PLN = Personal Learning Network

Personal learning network is connecting friends, colleagues and professionals and social networks. Also for gathering information and resources to share.   Keeping all your needed information together, and making it available to you by connecting them all together..
Personal learning networks are very important to our environment, it connects ideas we are very passionate about, as well as money making for professionals. Teachers are starting to use PLN in there classrooms, for students to connect there subjects together and get information from other students.
I am using it to connect my social network, food news, healthy living and to keep up with the lastest recipes from a lot of my Chef friends.  I
I wish this was around when I had my catering business!

Just a thought

To start off if you're over fifty and have not used all parts of your brain in years; and decide to take a class in Web 2.0 make sure you get some kind of legal instruction on "How to properly use all parts of the brain again". I tend to remember what I'm writing about and get a brain fart and forget.
So it must be illegal in some states...  Just a thought!

The Internet

The internet begin in 1957 and has grown tremendously; It now is a global resource that allows people to share information and to conduct business transactions.  The internet is used through personal home computers, super computers, and now mobile devices.
The internet is used for a number of reasons.  Communication browings the www, keeping in touch with friends, family through social networks.

The government felt the need to improve computer systems after the successful launch of Sputnik by the Soviet Union.  The US government wanted to catch up with it's Cold War competitors in the department of science and technology.  They feared a nuclear attack on their computer systems, thus creating the internet.

The world wide web was created in the early 1990s.  Developers wanted to create a simpler way of navigating the internet.

Individuals and businesses connect to the internet through LAN or ISP.  LAN, or local area network connects computers so users can share resourses.  LAN is primarily used with businesses.  Individual and businesses  also use internet Service Providers (ISP) to connect to the internet.  An ISP is a company that provides a variety of services to connect costumers to the internet.  A common example of this is Time Warner Cable.

The internet has come a long way, from one computer and a mainframe, called batch processing.  My comparison is me I was born in 1957 in a one horse town, now that small town is a really big city.
