Mobile Devices in Business

Business' are built, business grows, deals are made for business,' plans are meet and all this is done through a mobile device.  A business can be ran right from your mobile device, everything right at your finger tips.
Of course I would look into running a restuarant from a mobile devise, a owner can send menus out and advertisements to boost business.  Supplies, meats, produce, can be ordered right from your mobile device.  Recipes can be downloaded, and used rigjt on the spot.  You can pay your bills to your venders, see restaurant reviews;  who has the best, who is your biggest competition and who is the worst, all this from a mobile device.  Restaurants can send a text regarding the specials of the house with picture, it's truly awesome.  Calendars and reminders for parties that's booked; before you get to your restaurant you can access the reservation list. Doucuments can be created and sent, payroll can be done, you can go web searching from your mobile device, check emails, all of this and it can fit right in your pocket.
Using your mobile device in a business can be very expensive, and you have to have the right package.  You have to be attached to it at all times, because your world your life is the mobile devise.  But it's smart and it's the way of the future or should I say the way of now.

Advance searches is using only keywords, and using the words in phrases, paraphrases or  quotations.  Conjunctions are also used, that’s called a Boolean operators. It tells you which conjunctions can be use and where in a search.    It also provides search forms so you can use boolean operators, filtering by language, file or domain.

Search Engines

Search engines uses software called spider bot, or web crawlers to search all kinds of information. It browses the web automatically, add urls and fetch documents.  Then a list is created based on the word only meaning results are returned for each query. Each search has a different software formula, and their list is not in the same order.
I’ve learned you should never limit your search to just one search engine.  That’s what I’ve done up until now,  I know better.  Here are a few I will search!

Searching the Web (search tools)

All kinds of information from around the world can be found by using directories, search engines, and meta-search engines.  Thanks to Jerry Yang and David Filo, we now have yahoo, which started off as a list of webpages that were shared among students.  This list became Jerry’s guide and in 1990’s it was renamed, YAHOO! It is now a network tool created and arranged by humans. Using human editors to put together a directory of web resources is both a strength and a weakness. These search tools are linked by easy to understand categories and keywords.  Within the search tools, there is a hierarchy of information and categories with direct access to various links.  There are various shortcuts that can be used to get you to your desired websites.  You can also “drill-down” or dumb-down the directory categories clicking links. Even though the directory may be very useful, it can also lead you to a bunch of useless sites.  The appropriate webpages may not be pulled up during your search because the webpage may have been rejected by the editors.

Searching the Web

Searching the Web:

Searching the web, you can find out any information you want to know - destinations for travel, all about any and everything, and anybody quickly.  I never knew until now, it's a process you have to follow to obtain the best information from how to search properly to what questions you have to ask to ensure that your navigated to useful websites. Using the best search tools will bring better results.  How you phrase a question or what key words you use all counts either for or against you. I've even learned that using quotation marks can narrow down a search.  These are called search tools. I never realized that the first hit that comes up on the search results could be a paid site. Even with finding sites, the credibility of that site has to be evaluated, because anyone can put any information on that site, and some may not be accurate. You also have to pay close attention to who sponsors that site and if the site contains appropriate and suitable material. And just because a site looks good, doesn't always mean that it has good information. With the elimination of libraries, the credibility and reliability of sites and the information on the site is more important than ever.

Browsing The Web

This chapter has truly opened my eyes and my mind to receive information, most of it I never knew.  A while ago if someone would have mention www to me, wrestling would have entered my mind.  Web pages would have diffently had something to do with spiderman, browser would have meant a tool that were used in a salon.  Portal would only have hospital use; and with my background a server and slices would have everything to do with food.  I had some training on the internet, searching and refreshing and useing the keyboard, banking and facebook.  But never the knowledge of knowing that each of these had names and meanings.

With this chapter, Browsing the Web, I can now do just that - browse the web with navigating and building using protectors, feeds and accelerators.  And if I forget any of this information, I will have this chapter to go back to as a reference.  What a whole new world.

Net Neutrality

Net Neutrality can be defined as allowing internet users to be treated equally…
I am personally in favor of this concept. I think the issue of net neutrality is about money, and how the government and big companies are trying to regulate how we spend our money when it comes to using the internet. How can the government regulate and monitor something I am paying for? Now its internet usage, and twenty years from now it may be regulations on what stores we shop at, or how we spend our dollar.
I currently pay for prompt, fast internet service, and when I sit at my computer to watch a movie on Netflix, or to send pictures of my new baby grandson to family members across the country, I expect for my service to be just that—prompt and fast. If a bill is passed to deny net neutrality, my ISP can actually monitor and regulate my internet usage if they feel I am using too much of a bandwidth, or blocking services offered by their competitors. Net Neutrality currently allows internet users to access search engines, and other websites without paying an additional fee. This is a huge issue for me because I do a lot of my shopping online. What about students who are poverty stricken and their parents can only afford the minimum payment for internet service? How can that student complete a research paper if it’s going to cost extra money to use Google or other search engines?
Some debaters think extra internet service should be offered at an additional cost and offered in tiered packages, like cable. Unlike cable, internet usage for some people is a necessity and not a luxury. Net Neutrality makes the internet easy and affordable for consumers and business owners alike. If laws are passed that restricts net neutrality, everyone will be affected.

TWITTER!

http://twitter.com/Chefbetty53

I will use twitter as a business opportunity to connect to the world regarding my catering business.  I will use twitter to promote my menu, my specialities, and to get and receive new ideas and recipes from other chefs.  I will use twitter to network with chefs and other food networks, about restaurant openings, food and wine tastings.  I would also like to connect with other venues to get better understanding of whats out there, that's new to the world of catering.
I would  like to connect to some of the celebrities, just to keep up with whats going on in their lives and the new Hollywood.
I would like to connect with friends and family and to see and keep up with them..
I realize its another social network, but it's blogging only with limited characters.  That's the only downfall I personally don't agree with.  You are only allowed 140 characters per tweet, I may need more sometimes.
Over all I'm going to love it!  All of this is still very new to me!
